Four Fridays a month, W. Magnolia Blvd runs on its usual clock. Morrison's happy hour pulls the after-work crowd from 3 to 7. Porto's line dies down around 6. The New Deal's front patio fills as the studios empty out. It's a good block, and it behaves the way it has for years.
Then the last Friday hits, and the whole thing shifts an hour to the left.
The one Friday that resets the block
Magnolia Park Food Truck Fridays take place on the last Friday of the month from 5–9 pm every month from May through August, and the series draws thousands of Burbank locals as they stroll Magnolia Blvd from N Hollywood Way to Catalina Street. That's the footprint. Roughly the same six-block stretch that carries Holiday in the Park in December, and roughly the same stretch that was closed off for the parade back in May.
For summer 2026, that means four dates: the last Friday of May, June, July, and August. If you moved in over the winter and never saw one, this is the resident evening that everyone else on the block is quietly planning around.
A few things to know before you walk out the door:
- Trucks line the boulevard in front of specific storefronts, not in a single lot. Food trucks are placed in front of specific storefronts throughout Magnolia Park on Magnolia Blvd between N Hollywood Way and N Catalina St. That's why the crowd feels dispersed rather than clustered.
- Roughly thirty food trucks line up along the streets of Magnolia on a typical night, which is enough that no single line is fatal if you're patient.
- Shops on the strip stay open later than their standard hours, which is the actual reason the evening works. You can eat, then browse, then eat again.
- UMe Credit Union hosts Movies That ROCK, showing films like E.T. under the stars, which anchors the west end of the walk for families who don't want to keep moving.
The 5 pm start is the part that matters. Most of the block's other summer rhythms assume a 6 or 7 pm handoff. Food Truck Friday moves that hinge an hour earlier, which is why every anchor below reads the day slightly differently on the last Friday than it does on the other three.
What the anchors actually do on the last Friday
Magnolia Corner (2623 W Magnolia)
The corner spot that reopened in summer 2025 is the newest variable on the block. Magnolia Corner has been open for about two months as of early September 2025, with a remodeled interior, back patio and a menu of typical bar food, and a bar has stood on that spot for many decades. The remodel matters because the back patio is one of the few outdoor seats on this stretch that isn't directly on the sidewalk where the trucks queue.
On a Food Truck Friday, that back patio functions as a pressure valve. You can order a drink inside, sit out back, and then walk out to a truck when the line has moved. On the other three Fridays, it's just a patio.
Morrison (3821 W Magnolia)
Morrison's daily happy hour running 3–7 pm with sliders, mac and cheese, wings, and loaded potatoes is the default after-work move on non-truck Fridays. On the last Friday, the 3–7 window becomes the pre-truck window. You go at 4, close out at 5:15, and walk two blocks east into the trucks with the crowd rather than fighting through it.
The New Deal (3501 W Magnolia)
The New Deal is at 3501 W Magnolia Blvd with front and back patio dining, sitting more or less in the middle of the truck footprint. It's the reservation to make if you want to sit down for a real dinner on any Friday except the last one. On truck night, the front patio becomes the best people-watching seat on the block, and you should either book early or skip it entirely.
Porto's (3614 W Magnolia)
Porto's is not going anywhere. It's a family-run Cuban bakery known for cheese rolls and potato balls, and Yelp has rated it among the top places to eat in the U.S. The tactical note for residents: on a truck-night Friday, use Porto's for the walk home, not the walk out. The line at 4:30 is fine. The line at 7:30 is not.
Auto Books-Aerobooks
The specialty bookstore is the block's cultural landmark and the reason the May car show sat where it did. The Celebrate Burbank Car Show spans two full blocks of Magnolia Boulevard near Magnolia Park's Auto Books-Aerobooks bookstore. On a Food Truck Friday, it's a quiet interior stop between two loud sidewalk stretches, which is exactly what a long summer evening needs.
Handy Market
For anyone who's lived here more than a season, Handy Market is a grocery known for its prepared gourmet meals, and it's the correct answer if you want to eat well on Saturday morning without cooking. Buy Friday afternoon before the trucks arrive. The sidewalk in front will be blocked off by 4:30.
The other three Fridays
The rest of the summer runs on a calmer schedule, and it's worth naming so newer residents stop treating every Friday like a street fair.

The last column is the anomaly, not the rule. Twelve out of sixteen summer Fridays behave like column one.
A few things residents actually ask
Is the block worth walking on a non-truck Friday? Yes, and arguably it's better. Same shops, no crowds, easier parking, and the sit-down restaurants are running their full kitchens without a two-hour wait.
What else is happening this summer besides the trucks? Two bigger anchors bracket the season. Celebrate Burbank came to Magnolia Park on Saturday, May 16, 2026, running a parade from 10 am to noon followed by a street fair from noon to 6 pm — the first Burbank parade since before the pandemic. And at the other end of downtown, the Downtown Burbank Arts Festival ran Saturday, May 30 through Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 11 am to 6 pm on San Fernando Boulevard between Magnolia Boulevard and Angeleno Avenue. Both are one-offs. The Food Truck Fridays are the recurring evening.
Can I drive Magnolia during a truck Friday? No. The stretch between Hollywood Way and Catalina is effectively closed to through traffic for the four hours the trucks are running. Cross-streets like Buena Vista and Hollywood Way remain the way through the neighborhood. Plan errands accordingly, especially if you're coming home from Providence Saint Joseph or the airport side.
Do the shops actually stay open? The ones on the boulevard, yes. Off-boulevard shops on side streets keep their usual hours. This is why the map from the merchants association each month is worth checking: it tells you which storefronts are participating and which are not.
The point
If you live in Magnolia Park, the summer's rhythm is not "some Fridays there are trucks." It's the opposite. The block has a default cadence, and one Friday a month it gets rewritten. Knowing which Friday is which is the difference between a good evening and an hour circling for parking.
The rest is just showing up. Walk east if you're starting at Hollywood Way, west if you're starting at Catalina, and let the crowd do the pacing. The last Friday in July will be the busiest of the four. The August one will be the last of the year until Holiday in the Park pulls the same footprint into December.
